A nice way to end an October! A MASHy way to kick off a November!

Last week was super fun: playing with a miniaturized version of Mike Essoudry's Mash Potato Mashers for Tedd Robinson's R3 Dance project at the National Arts Centre, and, following the final show, literally running down the street to go sit in with Dan Mangan's band for the Ottawa portion of their Peculiar Travel Suggestions tour (got there just in time for the last few tunes).

This week, I'm looking forward to the Mike Essoudry's Mash Potato Mashers CD Release party on Friday night (the 5th)! It's happening at Irene's Pub, 885 Bank street in Ottawa, at 9:30pm. We recorded the CD this summer, and it sounds great. I'm very proud of my playing on this recording. So check it out! We'd love to see you at the party on Friday, but if you can't make it, consider purchasing the CD on CDBaby.

On Saturday the 6th, I'll be performing once again with Mr. Essoudry, playing some of his original charts with the Mike Essoudry Octet. This one's at the NAC 4th Stage, as part of the Ottawa Jazz Festival's Six-Concert Extravaganza, exclamation point. Be there at 7:30 to catch my wonderful friend Megan Jerome; she plays right before us.

Gigs Upcoming

Hey everyone,
I had a great time yesterday at the OCFF Conference. I was there to play with Mike Essoudry's Mash Potato Mashers in several places around the hotel, and wound up also sitting in with Dan Mangan, which was a big thrill for me. The Mashers brought the evening to a close with an insane roving party... I guess that's kind of our thing.

Here's some upcoming events where I am involved in one way or another...

October 28-30: Tedd Robinson | 10 Gates Dancing, R3. I'll be there for the excerpts from Ted's new Dichterliebe project that we worked on this past August. National Arts Centre, 8pm. $29/$16.

November 5: Mike Essoudry's Mash Potato Mashers CD Release Party!!! Bring your shoes and your livers. Irene's Pub (885 Bank st.), 9:30pm, $10.

November 6: Mike Essoudry Octet. NAC Fourth Stage. More details to come.

Also, tonight from 7-9pm, my esteemed colleague Craig Pedersen will be presenting his Broken Compass project as part 4 of the ongoing IMOO Concert Series. Umi Cafe (610 Somerset W.), $5 suggested donation. I'm not playing, but I'll be there, and I recommend checking it out and supporting IMOO!
